November 2019The Observer – Yorkshire Water implements new policy to phase out management of its upland catchments for grouse shooting, with a commitment to review the future of leases and implement nature-friendly moorland management.

March 2019Yorkshire Post – NG Bailey embarks on an environmental drive within the grounds of its headquarters, including ending grouse shooting, resulting in rare hen harriers roosting on the moor and natural regeneration of peat-forming vegetation.

July 2018 The Telegraph – The UK’s former largest travel agent Thomas Cook ends all involvement in orca whale captivity, a move which has since been followed by British Airways and Virgin Holidays.

May 2018 DEFRA – The use of CCTV in English abattoirs for the improvement of animal welfare becomes mandatory in law.

March 2018Ilkley Gazette – Bradford Council begins restoration of the world-famous Ilkley Moor, starting by ending grouse shooting and burning. This has resulted in specialist wildlife, including red kites, short-eared owls, ravens and badgers, returning to the moor, alongside regeneration of peat bogs for carbon capture and flood alleviation.
